Free Use License

This Free Use License (the "License") is granted by Default File ("Default File," "we," "us," or "our"), a personal project by Vignesh V, for use of the Default File website, tools, and related materials available at https://defaultfile.com (the "Service").

This License supplements our Terms of Service at https://defaultfile.com/legal/terms. If there is a conflict between this License and the Terms regarding permitted use of the Service or User Outputs, the Terms control, except that this License is intended to state the free-use permissions in plain form.

This License is not an Enterprise User License Agreement, commercial seat license, or data processing addendum. Those documents apply to different product models and are not offered for the current free Service.

Subject to your compliance with this License, the Terms, and our Acceptable Use Policy, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, worldwide license to access and use the Service for lawful personal and commercial purposes while the applicable features remain freely available.

You may use the Service to create designs, study UX principles, generate gradients and other tool outputs, and incorporate ordinary User Outputs into your own projects, client work, and products, subject to Section 3.

No ownership of the Service, its software, trademarks, documentation, or underlying technology is transferred to you. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

If we publish a package or copy-source registry item under a separate open-source license, that license—not this Free Use License—governs those materials only. It does not grant additional rights in the hosted Service or brand.

"User Outputs" means visual exports, downloads, copied images, shareable configuration links, and similar materials you create through ordinary use of the tools.

As between you and us, and to the extent permitted by law, you retain whatever rights you may have in User Outputs you create, subject to our ownership of the Service, tools, templates, and documentation used to generate them.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of User Outputs does not infringe third-party rights and complies with applicable law. We do not warrant that User Outputs are unique, non-infringing, or fit for any particular commercial purpose.

You may not, except as expressly permitted by mandatory applicable law or our prior written consent:

(a) sell, sublicense, rent, lease, or commercially redistribute the Service itself, or package the Service as a competing hosted tool, UI kit, template marketplace, or design-system product;

(b) copy, scrape, or republish substantial non-public portions of the Service, documentation corpora, or proprietary tool implementations for redistribution;

(c) remove proprietary notices from Service materials;

(d) use the Service, proprietary shaders, documentation corpora, or bulk exports of Service materials to train, fine-tune, or improve any machine learning or artificial intelligence model;

(e) share credentials or circumvent access controls if accounts or Paid Plans are introduced; or

(f) use the Service in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy or applicable law.

These restrictions protect the Service and our intellectual property. They are not intended to prevent ordinary use of your own User Outputs in your design projects.

The Service is currently offered free of charge under this License. Free access does not create a perpetual right to free use of every feature.

We may introduce paid subscriptions, paid tiers, feature gating, or commercial licensing ("Paid Plans") as described in our Terms of Service. Features that are free today may later require a Paid Plan.

Before charges begin, we will provide prior notice by updating the Terms and, where reasonably practicable, by on-site notice. Continued use of paid features after the effective date of a Paid Plan constitutes acceptance of the applicable fees and related terms.

If Paid Plans include downloadable assets, seat limits, or enterprise access, additional license terms (and, where applicable, an enterprise agreement or data processing addendum) may apply to those offerings only.

While features remain free, we intend the Service to be openly usable by designers, students, freelancers, and teams for everyday practice and production work, subject to this License and the Terms.

Attribution to Default File or Vignesh V is appreciated but not required for ordinary User Outputs, unless a specific tool or export expressly states otherwise.

This License continues until terminated. It terminates automatically if you breach it, the Terms, or the Acceptable Use Policy. We may also suspend or terminate access as described in the Terms.

Upon termination, you must stop using the Service. Rights in User Outputs already lawfully created remain subject to Section 3 and applicable law.

THE SERVICE AND THIS LICENSE ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. Additional disclaimer and liability terms appear in our Terms of Service and Disclaimer.

This License is governed by the laws of India, consistent with our Terms of Service, without regard to conflict of law principles, subject to mandatory consumer protections that cannot be waived.
